AN ANALYSIS OF GRAMMATICAL ERRORS IN SPEAKING COMMITTED BY THE STUDENTS OF TOUR AND TRAVEL CLASS AT SLC SINGARAJA IN ACADEMIC YEAR 2017/2018

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis jenis dan sumber kesalahan yang dilakukan oleh siswa-siswi untuk Tour dan Travel-Sun Lingua College (SLC) Singaraja pada Tahun Akademik 2017/2018. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Ini menggunakan purposive sampling dan subjeknya terdiri dari 24 siswa dan 1 guru tour dan travel. Data dikumpulkan melalui rekaman, penyebaran kuesioner dan wawancara dan dianalisis dengan menggunakan Surface Strategy Taxonomy oleh Dulay, Burt dan Krashen (1982). Ini tentang mengidentifikasi kesalahan, mengklasifikasikan kesalahan, menghitung kesalahan, menganalisis kuesioner dan hasil wawancara, melaporkan hasil analisis dan menarik kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ada empat jenis kesalahan: kelalaian, penambahan, misformasi dan salah urut, yang dilakukan oleh siswa-siswi. Jumlah kesalahan total adalah 520 yang terdiri dari 43,9% kesalahan kelalaian, 30,8% kesalahan misformasi, 18,9% sebagai penambahan kesalahan, dan 6,6% kesalahan salah urut. Penelitian tersebut menemukan bahwa sumber kesalahan adalah kesalahan antarbahasa serta kesalahan intrabahasa.

This study aimed at analyzing the types and sources of errors committed by the students of Tour and Travel–Sun Lingua College (SLC) Singaraja in Academic Year of 2017/2018. This study is a descriptive qualitative research. It applied purposive sampling and the subjects of which consisted of 24 students and 1 tour and travel teacher. The data were collected through recording, distributing questionnaire and interview and analyzed by using Surface Strategy Taxonomy by Dulay, Burt and Krashen (1982). It was about identifying the errors, classifying the errors, calculating the errors, analyzing the questionnaire and the result of the interview, reporting the result of the analysis and drawing the conclusion. The results of the study show that there were four types of errors: omission, addition, misformation and misordering, committed by the students. The total numbers of errors were 520 which consisted of 43.9% in omission errors, 30.8% in misformation errors, 18.9% in addition errors, and 6.6% in misordering errors. The study found that the sources of errors were interlingual error as well as intralingual error.
