Abstract

This study comparative research on the diversity and abundance of echinoderm at the coral reef ecosystem in the Kedungu beach and Mertasari beach aims at (1) comparing the diversity of echinoderms in the coral reef ecosystem in the area Kedungu Beach, Kediri, Tabanan and area of Mertasari Beach, Sanur, Denpasar. (2) comparing the abundance of echinoderm coral reef ecosystems in Kedungu Beach, Kediri, Tabanan and Mertasari Beach, Sanur, Denpasar. (3) determining whether there are significant differences in terms of diversity and abundance of echinoderms on coral reef ecosystems at both the beach area. This research is categorized as a descriptive study of exploratory. The design of this study is a field study and laboratory research. Sample of this study was taken by using transek. The results of this study showed that (1) Diversity index (H ') echinoderm in Kedungu, Kediri, Tabanan classified as average amount of 1.038, species wealth (R) was 1.4980, species evenness (E) of 0.499 and the dominance index (C) was at 0,5457 while the diversity index (H ') of Mertasari beach, Sanur, Denpasar was classified as average amount at 1.252, species wealth (R) was 1.3854, species evenness (E) was 0.643 and the dominance index (C) was 0,4293. (3) the highest values of relative abundance (KR%) was Kedungu beach which the amount was 72.8971% it was kind of the Echinus sp. while Mertasari beach which the amount was 63.1578% it was kind of the Echinus sp. (4) there is a significant differences in terms of diversity and abundance of echinoderms between the Kedungu beach, Kediri, Tabanan and Mertasari beach, Sanur, Denpasar
