PENGARUH MODEL PEMBELAJARAN NATURE OF SCIENCE DAN KONVENSIONAL TERHADAP KETERAMPILAN BERPIKIR KRITIS SISWA SMA NEGERI 3 SINGARAJA

Abstract

Keterampilan berpikir kritis merupakan salah satu kompetensi siswa yang harus dikembangkan dalam kurikulum 2013. Oleh sebab itu setiap sekolah wajib untuk melatih keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan keterampilan berpikir kritis antara siswa yang dibelajarkan menggunakan model Nature of Science dengan siswa yang dibelajarkan menggunakan model Konvensional. Jenis penelitian ini termasuk kedalam jenis penelitian eksperimen semu (quasi experimental), dengan desain penelitian non equivalent pre-test post-test control group design. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh kelas X MIA di SMA Negeri 3 Singaraja tahun ajaran 2015/2016, dengan sampel penelitian yaitu kelas X MIA 1 dan kelas X MIA 4 yang diambil dengan menggunakan teknik simple random sampling. Data penelitian dikumpulkan dengan tes keterampilan berpikir kritis yang berjumlah 15 butir soal uraian. Teknik analisis data dilakukan dengan analisis deskriptif dan statistik uji-t. Uji-t dilakukan dengan bantuan program SPSS statistics 21.0 for Windows. Peningkatan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa dianalisis dengan menggunakan Gain Score ternormalisasi, kelas yang belajar dengan model Nature of Science mendapatkan nilai gain rata-rata sebesar 0,5496 yang termasuk kategori gain sedang dan kelas yang belajar menggunakan model konvensional mendapat nilai gain rata-rata sebesar 0,3997 yang termasuk kategori gain sedang. Sementara itu dari hasil analisis data diperoleh thitung = 3,830 dan ttabel (pada taraf signifikansi 5%) = 2,000. Hal ini berarti bahwa thitung > ttabel, sehingga dapat diinterpretasikan bahwa terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa yang mengikuti pembelajaran dengan menggunakan model Nature of Science dengan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa yang mengikuti pembelajaran menggunakan model Konvensional.

Critical thinking skills was one of competence that should be developed in 2013 curriculum. Because of that reason every schools in Indonesia should be gave a training about critical thinking skills to the students. The purpose of this research was to determine the differences of critical thinking skills between students that learned using Nature of Science learning model and students that learned using the conventional learning model. This research was a quasi-experimental research, and the design of this research was non-equivalent pre-test post-test control group design. The population of this research were all tenth grade students in SMA Negeri 3 Singaraja in second semester of academic year 2015/2016, that took X MIA 4 and X MIA 1 as samples of this research. The samples were taken by using a simple random sampling technique. The data of this research were collected using critical thinking skills tests. There was totally 15 items of description test. Data were analyzed using descriptive analysis technique and statistical t-test. The increase of critical thinking skills was analyzed using normalization gain score. The result of gain score value of student that learn using Nature of Science learning model was 0,5496 and gain value of student that learn using conventional learning model was 0,3997, both of the value can categoriezed as the medium gain. The results of data analysis showed the value of t-test were t = 3,830 and ttable (at significance level of 5%) = 2,000. This means that value of the t-test are more higher than ttabel (thitung>ttabel), so it can be interpreted that there is a significant differences between critical thinking skills of students that learn using Nature of Science learning model and students that learn using conventional learning model.
