JPI is an integrated media for ongoing communication related to significant new research findings related to education, including: the fields of educational research in teaching, learning and teaching, curriculum development, learning environment, teacher education, educational technology, and education development. <br /><br />JPI publishes research articles that are comprehensive in nature by inviting reviews from the leading experts in the fields. The incoming papers will be selected based on high scientific studies, provide important new knowledge, and are very interesting for the community in the field of education. JPI has become a member of <strong>CrossRef</strong> with <strong>DOI: 10.23887/jpi-undiksha.v9i1</strong> so that all articles published by JPI will have a unique DOI number. <br /><br />JPI was first published in 2012 and is regularly published twice a year until 2019. Since then, JPI has begun to receive high-quality articles in large quantities. Therefore, starting in 2020, JPI increases the frequency of publications to four times a year. <p>This research was motivated by the development of the Merdeka Curriculum, whose implementation also focused on developing the character of the Pancasila Student Profile. One of the dimensions is the development of the character of Global Diversity, namely the habit of preserving noble culture, identity, locality and developing an open attitude in interactions with other cultures both on a national and global scale. The character of global diversity is a habit that is instilled from the family environment, school to society. In fact, there are still many conflicts caused by feelings of intolerance and discrimination, parents who only focus on their children's external needs and teachers who are unable to be role models. This research examines the influence between the intensity of family socialization, the level of teacher example and social heterogeneity on the level of global diversity character of Pancasila student profiles using a quantitative approach. This research is research with a quantitative approach, using a survey method with an explanatory research type. The results of this research show that the variables tested show a high category. Based on the results of the t test, it shows that there is a significant influence between the three dependent variables on the independent variables. <p>This research was motivated by the low reading interest of high-class students. This research aims to develop learning media in the form of digital comics based on numeracy literacy that can increase students' interest in reading. The type of research used is Research and Development (R&D) with the ADDIE development model, which includes the stages of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The subjects of the study were high-class students, while the data was collected through questionnaires before and after the implementation of digital comics and through validation by technology experts. The data were analyzed using quantitative descriptive techniques. The results of the study showed an increase in students' interest in reading after using digital comics. The validation of technology experts showed that 95% stated that the comic material was in accordance with the students' comprehension ability, 90% assessed the language used as appropriate, and 98% stated that digital comics were effective in increasing reading interest. In conclusion, digital comics based on numeracy literacy can be an effective solution to increase students' interest in reading. <p>Low reading ability in students can have a long-term negative impact on the learning process. Inadequate reading skills will affect the achievement of overall student learning outcomes. This research aims to develop a picture word card media based on the Canva application that is valid, effective, and practical to improve the initial reading skills of grade I students. The subject of the research at the implementation stage is grade I students of elementary school. Media validation is carried out by media experts, material experts, and linguists. Data collection is carried out through tests, interviews, observations, questionnaires, and documentation, with questionnaires as data collection instruments. The data was analyzed descriptively, both qualitatively and quantitatively. The results of the study show that the Canva application-based picture card media developed is feasible to use based on assessments from experts and positive responses from teachers and students. <p>So far, the learning methods used still tend to be conventional, such as using textbooks and lectures. This is less than optimal in attracting students' interest and increasing their understanding of technical practical material. In fact, when learning skills such as hair cutting, media is needed that can visualize the process in a more concrete and detailed manner. The Flip Book Maker-based e-Module is expected to be an effective solution because it is able to combine multimedia elements, such as text, images, video and animation, which are presented interactively. This media not only increases student attraction and engagement, but also provides easy access and flexibility in the learning process. The main objective of this research is to develop and test the effectiveness of Flip Book Maker-based E-Module learning media in the Basic Hair Trimming course. This type of research is descriptive qualitative. This research focuses on developing a Flip Book Maker-based E-Module for the Basic Hair Trimming course using the Instructional Development Institute (IDI) model. The IDI model involves three stages: define, develop, and evaluate, ensuring a systematic approach to meeting educational needs. The data analysis method used is descriptive qualitative. The main results of this research show that the use of E-Module media based on Flip Book Maker in the Basic Hair Trimming course significantly improves the quality of learning. Based on effectiveness tests, students who use this E-Module show a better understanding of the material compared to conventional learning methods. Student learning outcomes increase, especially in aspects of technical skills and understanding complex hair trimming procedures. <p>Globalization has had the impact of changes in the management of an organization, both business and non-business organizations. Every organization will survive if it has a competitive advantage. The research objective is to build sustainable competitive advantage in managing organizations in the education sector. This research explains how the knowledge management process, termed Knowledge Management, is influenced by business strategy mediation in increasing sustainable competitive advantage. Respondents are structural academic officials at private universities in Bali. The number of respondents was 100 people from 6 private universities in Denpasar. The sampling method uses non-probability purposive judgment sampling, where the sample is limited to structural officials in the academic field. This research uses descriptive and inferential statistics. Descriptive statistics are used to determine the characteristics of respondents and describe respondents' answers. Inferential statistics using Partial Least Square.to analyze data and test hypotheses.The research results show that the influence of Knowledge Management on business strategy and competitive advantage is positive and significant, business strategy mediates the influence of the KM process on competitive advantage. This means that the better the knowledge management process, the more relevant the strategies used, the more competitive advantage will increase. <p>Ganesha University of Education has a vision to become a superior university based on the Tri Hita Karana philosophy in Asia by 2045. LPPM Undiksha has prepared a Strategic Research Plan for 2022-2026 based on the Tri Hita Karana Philosophy to realize its vision and mission. This study analyzes the types of Undiksha academic research schemes throughout 2022, focusing on seven research areas. The type of research conducted is ex-post facto with a meta-analysis method that combines various research data from the Undiksha academic community throughout 2022 and then summarized quantitatively. The subjects of this study were all lecturers and functional staff of Undiksha. Factual data on the publication of lecturers' research results were obtained through documentation, questionnaires, interviews, and FGDs. The study results show that all research focus areas planned in the Undiksha Renstra for 2022-2026 have been filled, with research dominating in education, social humanities, and arts and culture as Undiksha's leading focuses. This research is an evaluation research with a qualitative research type. This study applies a goal-oriented evaluation model carried out in three stages: formulating goals, classifying goals, measurably formulating goals, determining when goal achievement can be demonstrated, selecting and developing appropriate measurement methods, collecting information or data, and analogizing data or information objectively. <p>Writing skills cannot be acquired naturally, but must go through a continuous learning and practice process. Many students still need to bee narrative essays and are less able to develop words into sentences. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of using flashcard media on narrative text writing skills for grade V. This study is an experimental study. The research design used was a quantitative experimental design with a non-equivalent group control pattern. This subject involved grade V students in two classes with 56 students. Data collection techniques in this study were carried out through documentation, observation, and tests. The data obtained were analyzed using descriptive analysis. Data analysis techniques used the t-test and n-gain (mean difference). The results showed that the use of flashcard media had a significant positive impact on improving the narrative text writing skills of grade V students. It was concluded that using flashcard media can improve grade V students' narrative text writing skills. <p>The use of verbal units in textbooks will be mapped out. Although textbooks are considered an essential source of information, aspects such as language that can stimulate student engagement, project-based tasks that support collaboration, and reflection and discussion in improving critical thinking skills should be considered. This study aims to identify the potential of Indonesian language textbooks to stimulate students' learning activities. The research method used is a qualitative approach with a case study method. The research sample was selected purposively, namely one Indonesian language textbook used in one of the secondary schools. Data were collected through observation, interviews, literature study, and document analysis. The instruments used were interviews and observation sheets. The results showed that textbooks can be an effective stimulus in stimulating students' learning activities. Textbooks can stimulate student activity by presenting exciting material, encouraging reflection and discussion, and providing project-based tasks. The selection of textbooks that suit learning needs is also essential. The compatibility between textbooks and students' level of thinking will facilitate students' understanding of the material and achieve learning objectives. Overall, Indonesian language textbooks have great potential to improve students' learning activities. <p>Socio-creative entrepreneurship competencies are essential for learners to have as life skills. Socio-creative entrepreneurship competence can be promoted through projects. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of social action projects in improving learners' social-creative entrepreneurship competencies. This research is a quasi-experimental posttest-pretest non-equivalent control group design involving 57 learners in a junior high school. Data on socio-creative entrepreneurship competencies were divided into three aspects: cognitive, affective, and psychomotor. Data on cognitive aspects were collected using test techniques and instruments in the form of essay test sheets. In contrast, affective and psychomotor aspects were collected using survey techniques and instruments in the form of questionnaire sheets. The results were analyzed using inferential descriptive statistics and the Mann-Whitney U test. The pre-test, post-test, and N-gain scores were compared. The statistical analysis results showed that social action projects affect socio-creative entrepreneurship competencies. The scores achieved by students in the class that used the social action project model were higher. Therefore, the social action project model is declared "effective" and can be applied in learning to improve social-creative entrepreneurship competencies. The learners' socio-creative entrepreneurship competence increased with the challenging atmosphere of social action projects in social studies learning. It is recommended that teachers use the social action project model to improve learners' entrepreneurial competencies as a preparation for the 21st century. <p>Entrepreneurship education is a crucial process for digital entrepreneurs in the era of escalating digital transformation. Teachers represent one of the key elements who must possess adequate competencies in teaching digital entrepreneurship. The research aims to analyze the factors influencing the digital entrepreneurship competence of teachers derived from the institutional school environment and the background of business ownership and gender. This research is a quantitative study employing survey methodology, and data collection techniques involving the use of questionnaires. The survey was conducted in 11 Vocational High Schools, comprising 81 teachers. The research findings indicate that institutional environmental support in the form of cognitive, normative, and regulative aspects significantly influences the digital entrepreneurship competence possessed by entrepreneurship teachers. Other influences can be observed from teachers' internal factors (entrepreneurial background and gender), however, these influences have low significance in affecting teachers' digital entrepreneurship competence. <p>This study analyzes students' spatial abilities based on Field Independence (FI) and Field Dependence (FD) cognitive styles in the context of geometry learning. The research background is a difficulty that is often faced by students with the FD cognitive style in understanding geometric concepts. The main purpose of this study is to compare the spatial abilities of FI and FD students and identify the factors that cause the difficulties of FD students. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. The research subject involved 6 students, consisting of 3 FI students and 3 FD students, who were selected using a purposive sampling technique based on the results of the Group Embedded Figures Test (GEFT). Data were collected through interviews, observations, and tests, then analyzed in a qualitative descriptive manner. The results showed that FI students had superior spatial abilities compared to FD students, meeting the indicators of spatial perception, visualization, mental rotation, spatial relationships, and spatial orientation. In contrast, FD students have difficulty meeting most of these indicators. Factors that contribute to FD students' difficulties include dependence on the environment, lack of self-confidence, and lack of understanding of prerequisite materials. This study provides important implications for more effective learning strategies in overcoming students' difficulties in learning geometry, especially by considering the differences in students' cognitive styles.</p>Husni SabilSela Michella O. <p>As the main learning actors, teachers often do not use learning media to support student learning outcomes. This study aims to create a feasible and effective digital flashcard media and determine whether digital flashcard media can improve the mastery of English vocabulary of grade I elementary school students. The press developed digital flashcards. This research uses the RnD method with the ADDIE model. The data collection methods used were questionnaires and tests. In contrast, the data collection instruments used were expert validation sheets collected from the assessment of three experts, as well as responses from a teacher and 20 grade 1 elementary school students and test sheets. The data analysis methods used in this research are qualitative and quantitative data. Qualitative data was obtained from needs analysis data, input and product validation suggestions from media validators, material experts, and linguists, and input and suggestions from teacher and student responses. The results showed a significant increase in students' mastery of English vocabulary, as indicated by the difference in pretest and posttest scores. Thus, it can be concluded that digital flashcard media is considered feasible and effective for student learning to improve their mastery of English vocabulary. <p>Having a child with a disability does not happen to all families. Parents of children with disabilities have to go through an acceptance process without a specific blueprint as parents use different coping mechanisms and are influenced by several factors. This study aims to analyze parents' acceptance process and their aspirations for their child with CWD. Seven participants were selected through snowball sampling method and underwent semi-structured in-depth interviews for data collection while the instrument used was an interview sheet. Data analysis was conducted using the interpretive phenomenology (IPA) approach which resulted in high-level themes. The results showed that the process of parental acceptance includes different internal processes that are categorized into superordinate themes namely: discovering disability, facing reality, reconstructing a new normal, dealing with the situation, making peace, hoping for a better future, and advocating for an inclusive tomorrow. It can be concluded that parents of children with disabilities (CWD) face a unique and complex process of acceptance after learning of their child's disability. <p>Preparing scientific work is a crucial skill, especially for academics, researchers and students. However, not all individuals have access to direct training or have sufficient skills in preparing scientific papers. Therefore, e-training is one solution that is expected to be able to bridge this gap. This research aims to evaluate training programs in developing "best practice" scientific work for teachers and provide recommendations for improving training programs. The method used in this research is evaluation using the Kirkpatrick model which includes evaluating reactions, learning, behavior and results using a mixed method approach, namely the Concurrent Embedded Model. Quantitative data was collected using test, questionnaire and assignment techniques. Qualitative data was collected using interview techniques, observation and document study. Research subjects included teachers, principals, coaches and committee members. Quantitative data was analyzed descriptively by calculating percentages, categorization, and T test. Qualitative data was analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model. The results showed that the reaction stage was at the very satisfied category level; increasing the domains of knowledge, attitudes and skills identified at the learning stage; while the behavior and outcome stages are at the good category level. Organizing e-training can meet the expectations and needs of participants, mable to increase participants' knowledge and skills in writing scientific papers so that it has an impact on increasing the professionalism of teachers in schools. <p>Learning still focuses on mastering the material, with the teacher as the center. Aside from that, the thinking ability indicators that are frequently trained on students are confined to the C4 (analyze) indicator. As a result, students are passive in receiving information, and their higher-order thinking skills are hampered. The aim of this research is to analyze the influence of the Logan Avenue Problem Solving-Heuristic learning model on students' higher-order thinking skills. This study uses a quantitative approach. The research method used was a quasi-experiment with a pretest-posttest control group design. The sample in this study was 70 science students in class XI who were selected using cluster random sampling techniques. The data collection technique used was a description test of 10 questions, which was then measured using the free sample two-tailed t-test. The research results show that the Logan Avenue Problem Solving-Heuristic learning model has a significant effect on students' higher-order thinking skills. This study analyses the prevalence of bullying among junior and senior high school students. Using a descriptive correlational design and multi-stage sampling technique, researchers collected data from 416 high school students: 184 12th graders and 232 13th graders utilizing the data collection method of a questionnaire, and the data collection instrument was a questionnaire sheet with the Adolescent Peer Relations instrument type. Statistical analysis involved frequency count, arithmetic mean, and chi-square test. The results found that there were significant age-related differences in bullying and victimization patterns among the junior and senior high school students studied. The study concludes that bullying and victimization, exceptionally verbal, are significantly present among junior and senior high school students, with marked age-related variations in their frequency and nature. The implications of this study go beyond schools, impacting the wider society and contributing to a broader understanding and prevention of bullying.</p>Melbert Hungo

<p>Online or flexible learning has increased drastically even before the sudden change in educational modalities related to COVID-19. This study aims to design and validate the student perception of flexible learning (CSPOFL) through an instrument based on the multimodal online education model, which consists of seven constructs. This applied research uses an instrument development design and validation design after testing the validity and reliability of eight content experts and 164 students at a state university. The data collection method uses a questionnaire. The data collection instrument was used with a questionnaire sheet. The data analysis technique uses quantitative and qualitative analysis. The results of the study are from 55 initial items; the final version of the instrument consists of 29 items. It was found that the modifications mentioned above in the constructs and items resulted in the consistency of the overall instrument reliability coefficient of 0.955, which implies the acceptability of the instrument for use. CSPOFL is recommended for teachers, schools, administrators, and policymakers who aim to assess how students perceive flexible learning so that necessary interventions can be formulated to improve the teaching and learning process.</p>Jleian Mard Loseñara

<p>Social support, learning burden, emotional intelligence, and student learning boredom are things that students experience psychologically when learning mathematics. This study aims to analyze the relationship between social support and learning burden, emotional intelligence, learning boredom, and students' mathematics learning achievement. This study uses a survey research design. The subjects of the study were junior high school students with a sample size of 377 from a population of 6,658. The study sample was 377 students, obtained from a total population of 6658 students, using the area proportional simple random sampling technique. Data collection will be done using a questionnaire to determine the relationship. Data analysis techniques using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM), consisting of measurement models and structural models through the Analysis of Moment Structure (AMOS) program, were used to analyze the data obtained. The results of the study showed that social support had an effect on learning burden, emotional intelligence, learning boredom, and mathematics learning achievement; learning burden had an impact on learning boredom; emotional intelligence had an effect on learning burden and learning boredom. The conclusion of the study shows that the relationship between social support, learning burden, emotional intelligence, boredom, and mathematics learning achievement are interrelated. <p>This research is motivated by the low critical thinking ability and learning independence of elementary school students. This research aims to develop STEM-based animation learning videos that are feasible, practical, and effective in improving these two aspects. The research uses a research and development (R&D) method with a 4D development model consisting of the stages of define, design, develop, and disseminate according to the Thiagarajan model. The subject of this study involves elementary school students as the main users. Data collection is carried out through feasibility tests, practicality, and effectiveness by involving material experts, media experts, teachers, and students. Data analysis uses independent t test and MANOVA for effectiveness. The results of the study showed that the learning videos developed were considered feasible by material experts (91.7) and media experts (80). The effectiveness of the product can be seen from the results of the independent t test and MANOVA with a significance of 0.000. The practicality of the video was rated high by teachers (88) and students (92.8), with a 100% implementation rate. <p>The post-pandemic era of COVID-19 still leaves crucial problems for vocational education (VE), including mechanical engineering education (MEE). Practical learning readiness (PLR), which includes the dimensions of readiness for supporting knowledge, physical and psychological conditions in students, is a fundamental problem that must be solved through systematic mapping. Therefore, this research aims to measure the level of readiness in these three dimensions. In addition, we also examine the differences between dimensions and indicators and test the determination in constructing the PLR to determine systematic problem-solving. The survey was conducted on 386 MEE students, but the final number was 339, considering that 47 of them did not have good data rationale level criteria. The results of the descriptive analysis confirmed that the psychological condition and supporting knowledge had a low level, while the physical condition had a high level. The results of the comparison test show that the three are generally not significantly different, although there are notes in several indicators. Although all dimensions contribute significantly to constructing PLR, psychological conditions contribute the highest. This indicates that low psychological conditions are the first step for VE to suffer. Furthermore, several notes related to the decrease in knowledge-supporting practice are also the second effort that MEE must make in boosting PLR in its students.</p>Suwondo HermansahSutimanFarid MutohhariAlfat Khaharsyah

<p>This research is motivated by elementary school students' less-than-optimal reading comprehension skills. This is caused by the lack of teachers' understanding of how to improve students' reading skills and the lack of attention to measuring students' reading results, which causes students to need more information on their reading results. This study analysed the correlation between reading comprehension ability, metacognitive components, and inferential ability using digital big books. This research method uses a factorial analysis design to see the role of metacognitive variables and inferential ability on reading comprehension. This study involved 200 elementary school students from 4 schools. The sample was taken randomly. The data collection method used was a test. In contrast, the data collection instrument for students' metacomprehension skills was measured using the ESCOLA reading awareness scale, commonly used in students aged 10-15. The reading awareness measurement scale consists of 55 multiple-choice questions to assess three dimensions of metacomprehension, namely planning, monitoring, and evaluation. The data analysis used in this study was the Bonferroni analysis. The researcher selects the data obtained from the reading awareness scale, reading comprehension test, and its acquisition before analysis. The results showed that individual reading comprehension ability can predict metacomprehension accuracy. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that students' metacomprehension accuracy on textual question types is consistently better than their metacomprehension accuracy on inferential question types. This study implies that teachers can consider these aspects while optimizing the role of these variables to improve students' reading comprehension skills.</p>Indah Nurmahanani

<p>This study was motivated by students'students' low chemical literacy skills and critical thinking skills. One way to overcome this problem is to actively use a learning model involving students, such as problem-based learning (PBL). This research aims to analyze the effect of problem-based learning (PBL) on students' chemical literacy and critical thinking skills. This study used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method. The research design used was a non-equivalent control group design. The sample selection technique used was cluster random sampling, which was done by selecting 70 second-grade high school students. Data collection using tests with instruments in the form of essay test sheets regarding posttest chemical literacy skills with as many as seven questions and posttest critical thinking skills with as many as five questions. Data analysis techniques using non-parametric statistical tests. Hypothesis testing using the Kruskal-Wallis test. The results showed a significant difference between students taught with the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model and students who were not trained with the model. Applying the PBL model is proven to affect students' chemical literacy and critical thinking skills. Thus, it can be concluded that the application of PBL can significantly improve students' chemical literacy and essential thinking skills compared to learning methods that do not use the model. <p>Inclusive education is the right of every individual, including deaf students, to have equal access to English language learning. This research aims to develop a prototype of a web-based sign language learning model, using American Sign Language (WEBSL), for deaf students in learning English. This research uses a Research and Development (R&D) approach with the ADDIE development model. The subject of the study involved 25 deaf students from one of the Special Schools (SLB) in Pontianak City. Data was collected through analysis of the content of English textbooks tailored to deaf students, as well as thematic interviews with experienced teachers, to identify students' learning needs that included inclusivity, accessibility, language clarity, and visual learning preferences. The results of the analysis show the need for an interactive web-based learning model to facilitate deaf students' access to customized English language materials. The prototype developed in this study is designed to suit needs, be interactive, easily accessible, and take into account cultural sensitivities. <p>Many teachers experience decreased motivation and dissatisfaction due to a lack of support from school leaders, which ultimately impacts the quality of teaching and learning. This study analyzes the relationship between teachers' motivation and satisfaction with school leadership using correlational and regression approaches. This study used a quantitative descriptive-correlational research design. Sixty-one primary school teachers participated in this study as respondents, who were selected through simple random sampling. Data were collected using a validated research questionnaire consisting of motivation and satisfaction. The research instrument was subjected to a reliability test with Cronbach's alpha to ensure consistency using the instrument in the form of a questionnaire sheet. Data analysis used descriptive statistics, Pearson product-moment correlation, Spearman rho correlation, chi-square test, ordinary least square (OLS) regression, and logit regression to determine the strength and direction of the relationship between variables. The regression results further showed that increased satisfaction with school leadership predicted higher levels of teacher motivation. This suggests that school leaders play an essential role in fostering teacher motivation through effective and supportive management. It is concluded that improving school leadership practices can significantly contribute to increased teacher motivation, improving teaching quality and overall school performance.
