FENOMENA PUTUS SEKOLAH PADA JENJANG SMP DI PEJARAKAN, GEROKGAK, BULELENG, BALI

Abstract


Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui (1) faktor penyebab putus sekolah pada jenjang SMP di Desa Pejarakan dan (2) persepsi masyarakat tentang putus sekolah. Landasan teori yang digunakan yaitu teori putus sekolah dan teori persepsi. Jenis penelitian yaitu deskriptif, pendekatan penelitian yaitu fenomenologis. Penelitian berlokasi di Desa Pejarakan, Gerokgak, Buleleng, Bali. Sumber data didapatkan melalui metode observasi langsung dan tidak langsung, metode wawancara dan studi dokumen. Teknik analisis data yang dilakukan adalah Model Miles and Huberman, yakni reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Teknik keabsahan data menggunakan teknik triangulasi, yaitu triangulasi metode dan triangulasi sumber. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kasus putus sekolah pada jenjang SMP di Desa Pejarakan disebabkan oleh empat faktor yang saling berkaitan yaitu, (1) Lingkungan sosial; (2) Kesulitan dalam mengikuti pembelajaran; (3) faktor ekonomi; dan (4) Kurangnya dorongan orang tua. Adapun persepsi masyarakat Desa Pejarakan tentang kasus putus sekolah pada jenjang SMP yaitu, (1) Wajib belajar menjadi dasar penghalang putus sekolah; (2) Bekerja mencari nafkah bukan jalan keluar terhadap anak putus sekolah; (3) Putus sekolah merupakan penghalang untuk mencapai kesuksesan di masa depan

Abstract
This study aimed at describing (1) causal factor of dropout in Junior High School in Pejarakan Village and (2) community perception toward dropout. The concept of dropout and perception were used as theoretical basis. The design of study was descriptive applying phenomenological approach. The study was conducted in Pejarakan village, Gerokgak, Buleleng, Bali. The source of data were obtained through direct and indirect observation method, interview, and document study. The data were analyzed by using Miles and Huberman Model of analysis technique, namely: data reduction, data display, and drawing conclusion. Data validity applied triangulation technique, namely: method triangulation and source triangulation. The results of study showed that dropout case in junior high school level in Pejarakan village was caused by four interrelated factors, namely: (1) Social environment; (2) Difficulties to follow learning and teaching process; (3) Economic factors; and (4) Lack of parental encouragement. The perception of Pejarakan village community toward dropout case in junior high school level were, (1) Compulsory education was a basis dropout barrier; (2) Working for living was not a solution for student dropouts; (3) Dropout was a barrier to achieve success in the future.
