ANALISIS PERBEDAAN PERSEPSI DAN MINAT MAHASISWA AKUNTANSI DALAM PEMILIHAN KARIR SEBAGAI AKUNTAN (Studi Empiris Pada Mahasiswa Jurusan Akuntansi Program S1 Fakultas Ekonomi Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha)

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan persepsi dan minat antara mahasiswa semester awal dan semester akhir dalam pemilihan karir sebagai akuntan. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah mix methods tipe eksplanatory squential design dengan data primer yang diperoleh dari kuesioner dan wawancara. Kuesioner diukur dengan skala likert yang kemudian diolah dengan menggunakan uji independent sample t-test dengan bantuan program SPSS 20. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada Jurusan Akuntansi Program S1 Fakultas Ekonomi UNDIKSHA dengan responden sebanyak 90 mahasiswa. Hasil penelitian ini menyatakan bahwa terdapat perbedaan persepsi dan minat antara mahasiswa semester awal dan semester akhir dalam pemilihan karir sebagai akuntan dengan signifikansi sebesar 0,000 dan 0,024. Mahasiswa semester awal lebih berminat menjadi akuntan daripada semester akhir. Hal ini didukung dengan hasil wawancara yang menunjukkan bahwa mahasiswa semester awal memiliki persepsi menjadi akuntan itu menyenangkan dan bergengsi, sedangkan menurut mahasiswa semester akhir akuntan merupakan profesi yang dihormati namun memiliki tanggung jawab dan resiko yang tinggi. Sejalan dengan hal tersebut, semakin tinggi semester, minat menjadi akuntan semakin berkurang karena biaya untuk memperoleh profesi akuntan, pemahaman akuntansi yang kurang, tanggung jawab dan resiko yang tinggi serta masih banyak pilihan karir.

This study aimed at determining the differences in perceptions and interests between early semester and the final semester students in choosing a career as an accountant. The research method used was a mixed method of explanatory sequential design with the primary data obtained from questionnaires and interviews. The questionnaire was measured through a Likert scale which was then processed through the independent sample t-test with the help of SPSS 20. The research was conducted at the Undergraduate Program of Accounting of Economics Faculty UNDIKSHA with 90 students as respondents. The results of this study showed that there were differences in perceptions and interests between the early semester and the final semester students in career selection as accountants with a significance of 0,000 and 0,024. The early semester students were more interested in becoming accountants than the final semester. This was supported by the results of interviews which showed that the early semester students had the perception of being accountants as fun and prestigious; whereas according to the final semester students, accountants were respected professions, but they had high responsibilities and risks. Accordingly, the higher the semester, the interests in becoming an accountant diminished because of the cost of obtaining an accountant profession, lack of accounting knowledge, high responsibilities and risks, and the presence of many other career choices.
