Abstract

Abstract

Plants have the ability effectively to address or eliminate air pollution that occurred in the city, one of them is a croton plant. Stomata are part of the plant as one of the lines used herbs to interact with their environment. The main function of stomata is as a place of exchange of gases, such as CO2 which is required by plants in photosynthesis. However, stomata also acts as a one-lane entry of pollutants, especially pollutants from the air. Research by Sulistiana and Setijorini (2014), found that of 18 samples croton plant gained 13 cultivars have morphological types and forms of different leaves, with a content of absorption of lead are different too. Subsequent research conducted anatomical observations of leaves, especially the structure of the stomata of leaves of croton plant. The purpose of research is to explain the structure of the stomata of leaves of croton plant, comparing the structure of stomata between cultivars croton, and prove a link between the accumulation of lead (Pb) with the structure of the stomata of leaves of some cultivars croton. The research material is fresh leaves of 13 cultivars croton plant grown in Housing Batan Indah, District Kademangan, South Tangerang. Observation of the structure of the stomata of the leaves is done by making preparations paradermal. The parameters were observed in the study include the number of stomata, the number of cells of the epidermis, the length of the stomata, the width of stomata, the index stomata, and the density of stomata. The results showed a positive correlation between Pb with the structure of the stomata of the leaves of cultivars croton with parameters were observed mainly on the number, width, and the index of stomata, and density.
