Abstrak

Disposisi berpikir kritis adalah satu diantara karakteristik kunci untuk sukses di tengah kompetisi global abad ke dua puluh satu. Konsep tersebut merujuk kepada sejauh mana seseorang memiliki kecenderungan untuk skeptis, mengumpulkan lebih banyak bukti, dan menganalisis informasi yang dihadapi. Disposisi ini umum dimiliki para pembelajar hingga ahli filsafat atau pada masyarakat dengan apresiasi tinggi terhadap filsafat, sains dan cenderung sekuler. Belakangan terdapat ketertarikan untuk melihat lebih mendalam pengaruh dari aspek-aspek sosial seperti agama dan budaya terhadap disposisi berpikir kritis secara empirik. Riset-riset pendahulu menemukan hasil berseberangan yang menunjukkan pengaruh positif dan negatif agama terhadap disposisi berpikir kritis. Hasil yang beragam itu mengindikasikan kemungkinan hadirnya variabel mediator yang dapat mengubah arah hubungan atau pengaruh di antara dua variabel itu. Studi ini meneliti pengaruh religiusitas terhadap disposisi kritis melalui dua jalur; jalur langsung dan jalur yang dimediasi oleh keyakinan epistemik dan emosi epistemik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa keyakinan epistemik dapat menjadi mediator parsial bagi relasi kausal antara religiusitas dan disposisi berpikir kritis sementara emosi epistemik tidak dapat menjadi mediator bagi kedua variabel. Hasil tersebut menunjukkan bahwa agama, khususnya pada Muslim di Indonesia, memiliki pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap sikap kritis seseorang dan   pengaruh   itu   dapat   bertambah  kuat   jika   dibarengi  dengan   keyakinan  epistemik kontekstualis.
