Mencari Identitas: Dinamika Masyarakat Perbatasan Indonesia-Filipina, 1975-2014

Masyarakat Indonesia-Filipina memiliki irisan kultural yang mirip dengan ciri khas dan keunikannya masing-masing. Penelitian ini berusaha menganalisa proses pencarian identitas masyarakat di kawasan perbatasan Indonesia-Filipina paska terbentuknya border crossing Agremeent, 1975 hingga tahun 2014. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualtitatif dengan pendekatan ilmu sejarah, heuristik, kritik, interpretasi, dan historiografi. Data dan sumber utama dalam penelitian ini adalah dokumen Border Crossing Ageement, 1975 yang disepakati oleh Indonesia-Filipina yang dilakukan perbandingan informasi mengenai aktivitas masyarakat di kawasan perbatasan dengan observasi dan studi literatur. Hasil dari kajian ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat berbagai aspek dan dimenesi yang mempengaruhi pembentukan identitas masyarakat di kawasan perbatasan di antaranya aspek politik, aspek ideologi, dan aspek sosial. Aspek politik ditunjukkan dalam sengketa perbatasan wilayah laut antara Indonesia-Filipina yang mengikui hasil dari kesepakatan arbitasi pada tahun 1928. Aspek ideologi menjadi bagian menarik yang menguatkan relasi masyarakat Indonesia-Filipina di perbatasan yang menerapkan kehidupan moderasi beragama. Pada aspek sosial masyarakat di kawasan perbatasan mampu menunjukkan status mereka sebagai bagian dari proses sejarah panjang berdasarkan legitimasi sejarah-budaya yang melingkupinya. Dengan demikian, proses yang berlangsung dalam pencarian identitas adalah menguatnya legitimasi, status, dan penerimaan antara masyarakat dan negara sebagai satu kesatuan yang dikenal sebagai negara bangsa dan negara berdaulat.
