PENERAPAN MODEL PEMBELAJARAN EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING UNTUK MENINGKATKAN KEMAMPUAN MENULIS PARAGRAF DESKRIPSI PADA SISWA KELAS VII B SMP NEGERI 2 TAMPAKSIRING

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan peningkatan kemampuan menulis paragraf deskripsi dengan penerapan model pembelajaran experiential learning, mendeskripsikan langkah-langkah pembelajaran yang tepat melalui penerapan model pembelajaran experiential learning, dan mendeskripsikan respons siswa terhadap penerapan model pembelajaran experiential learning dalam pembelajaran menulis paragraf deskripsi. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK). Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VII B SMP Negeri 2 Tampaksiring dan guru bahasa Indonesia di kelas tersebut. Objek penelitian ini adalah keterampilan menulis paragraf deskripsi siswa, langkah-langkah pembelajaran menulis paragraf deskripsi, dan respons siswa terhadap pembelajaran menulis paragraf deskripsi. Metode pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah metode observasi, tes, kuesioner, dan wawancara. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis dengan menggunakan teknik analisis deskriptif kualitatif dan teknik analisis deskriptif kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa (1) Penerapan model pembelajaran experiential learning dapat meningkatkan keterampilan menulis paragraf deskripsi siswa kelas VII B SMP Negeri 2 Tampaksiring. Data refleksi awal menunjukkan bahwa nilai rata-rata kelas adalah 70 (cukup), kemudian menjadi 74,8 (cukup) pada siklus I dan meningkat menjadi 82,2(baik) pada siklus II. (2) Terdapat beberapa langkah penerapan model pembelajaran experiential learning untuk meningkatkan kemampuan menulis paragraf deskripsi, dan (3) Siswa memberikan tanggapan sangat positif terhadap penerapan model pembelajaran experiential learning dalam pembelajaran menulis paragraf deskripsi. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini, peneliti lain disarankan untuk mengadakan penelitian lanjutan yang sejenis degan penelitian ini, sehingga diperoleh hasil yang lebih meyakinkan serta sebagai sumbangan bagi guru untuk bahan kajian dan peningkatan mutu pendidikan.Kata Kunci : model pembelajaran experiential learning, paragraf deskripsi
This research aimed at describing students’ competency in writing descriptive paragraph through the application of experiential learning method, describing the steps of experiential learning method and describing the students’ response to the experiential learning method in writing descriptive paragraph. This research was in the form of classroom action based research. The subjects of this research were VII B students at SMP Negeri 2 Tampaksiring and the teacher who teach Indonesian language subject in that class. The object of this research was the students’ competency in writing descriptive paragraph, the steps of writing descriptive paragraph, and students’ response to the experiential learning method in writing descriptive paragraph. Observation, test, questionnaire and interview were the method used by the researcer in collecting the data. The collected data were analyzed by using qualitative and quantitative technique. The result of this research showed that (1) Application of experiential learning method can increase students’ competency in writing descriptive paragraph. The preliminary observation data reflect that the mean of the students in that was 70 (sufficient), increasing become 74,8 (sufficient) in cycle I and 82,2 (good) in cycle II. (2) There were some steps of experiential learning method that could be applied to increase the students’ competency in writing descriptive paragraph. (3) The students give positive response to the application of experiential learning method in writing descriptive paragraph. The result of this research reflect that the experiential learning method was good to apply in teaching writing descriptive paragraph in the classroom.
