PENERAPAN MODEL SELF DIRECTED LEARNING UNTUK MENINGKATKAN KEMAMPUAN PEMECAHAN MASALAH MATEMATIKA

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk : 1) meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika siswa, 2) mendeskripsikan proses peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah, dan 3) mengetahui tanggapan siswa melalui penerapan model self directed learning dalam pembelajaran matematika. Penelitian ini adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) yang dilakukan dalam dua siklus dengan subjek penelitian yaitu siswa kelas VIII 10 SMP Negeri 2 Singaraja tahun pelajaran 2013/2014 yang berjumlah 41 orang. Kemampuan pemecahan masalah siswa diukur dengan tes esai, proses peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah diamati dengan lembar observasi dan tanggapan siswa dikumpulkan dengan angket. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan 1) Pada akhir penelitian, rata-rata kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika siswa dikategorikan tinggi dengan rata-rata 68,41. 2) rata-rata skor proses pemecahan masalah matematika siswa yaitu 30,75 yang tergolong baik. 3) rata-rata tanggapan siswa terhadap pembelajaran matematika yang menggunakan model pembelajaran Self Directed Learning yaitu pada kategori positif dengan rata-rata 56,63

This study was aimed at: 1) increasing the student’s mathematical problem solving ability, 2) describing process of the problem solving ability enhancement, and 3) knowing the students’ responses towards the implementation of self directed learning model in mathematics. This study was a two cicles classroom action research. The subjects of this research were the 8th grade of class number 10 of SMP Negeri 2 Singaraja in the academic year 2013/2014 which altogether consisted of 41 students. Data of student’s problem solving ability were collected using essay, the process of problem solving ability enhancement was observed using observation sheet, while data of students’ responses were collected using questionnaire. The results of this research showed that 1) in the end of the research, the average of student’s mathematical problem solving ability had reached “high” category, it was shown by the average score 68.41, 2) the average score of student’s mathematical problem solving process was 30.75 which belonged to “good” category, 3) the average score of students’ responses towards the implementation of Self Directed Learning instructional model in Mathematics learning was 56.63 which belonged to “positive” category.
