Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan (1) biografi Mohammad Ubaitul Qomar, seniman kaligrafi Tabanan; (2) dari mana datangnya sumber gagasan dan konsep seni kaligrafi Mohammad Ubaitul Qomar; dan (3) bagaimana perwujudan konsep dan perwujudan gagasan kaligrafi Muhammad Ubaitul Qamar. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan observasi, wawancara, pendokumentasian, dan life history. Sasaran dalam penelitian ini adalah Mohammad Ubaitul Qomar. Data dianalisis menggunakan open coding, axial coding, dan selective coding. Hasil temuan dari penelitian ini yaitu (1) Mohammad Ubaitul Qomar terlahir 21 tahun silam, tepatnya pada tanggal 14 Juni 1994 di Desa Pupuan, Kecamatan Pupuan, Kabupaten Tabanan. Sejak di bangku sekolah dasar Ubai sudah mengenal kaligrafi kemudian mendalami kaligrafi di Sukabumi, Jawa Barat, tepatnya di LEMKA (Lembaga Kaligrafi Alquran). Beberapa kali ikut MTQ (Musabaqah Tilawatil Quran) dan memperoleh beberapa penghargaan dalam bidang kaligrafi Arab; (2) konsep dalam penggubahan kaligrafinya banyak datang dari lingkungan sekitar baik itu dari sumber daya manusia maupun dari sumber daya alam. Ide juga berasal dari pemesan yang mengajukan gagasannya kepada Ubai untuk direalisasikan atau negosiasi dan kesepakatan diantara kedua belah pihak. Konsep yang digunakan yaitu bentuk-bentuk geometris, alam, arsitektur (bentuk bangunan), abstraksi, luar angkasa, dan mushaf Alquran; (3) Alat dan bahan yang digunakan adalah pensil, penghapus, spidol, penggaris, gunting, cutter, jangka, pena, kuas, ember, alas, kertas, triplek dinding, kanvas, tinta, cat, dan pigmen. Tahapan dalam proses penggubahan kaligrafinya yaitu proses sketsa, pembuatan mal, pengaplikasian mal, pewarnaan pola dasar, pemberian motif hias, penulisan ayat, dan finishing. Jenis khat yang digunakan adalah khat naskhi, tsulutsi, farisi, diwani, diwani jali, riq’ih, dan kufi. Jenis iluminasi yang digunakan adalah motif arabes, motif bunga dan ranting, motif tali dan rantai, serta motif geometris. Jenis kaligrafi yang digubah adalah kaligrafi naskah, hiasan mushaf, dekorasi, dan kontemporer.

This study aimed to describe (1) the biography of Mohammad Ubaitul Qomar, Tabanan calligraphy artists; (2) where the ideas and the art concept of calligraphy of Mohamad Ubatul Qomar come from, and (3) how the embodiment of the concept and idea calligraphy of Muhammad Qamar Ubaitul are. This research is a qualitative descriptive study. The data were obtained by doing observation, interview, documentation, and life history. The target of this research is Mohammad Ubaitul Qomar. The data were analyzed by using open coding, axial coding, and selective coding. The findings of this study are (1) Mohammad Ubaitul Qomar who was born 21 years ago, precisely on June 14, 1994 in Pupuan village, the district of Pupuan, Tabanan. Ubai has been familiar with calligraphy since studied in elementary school, then he studied calligraphy in Sukabumi, West Java, precisely in LEMKA (Qur'an Calligraphy Institute). He had participated in MTQ (Musabaqah Tilawatil Quran) for several time and earned several awards in the field of Arabic calligraphy; (2) the concepts in the composition of calligraphic come a lot from the surrounding environment both from human resources and natural resources. The idea also comes from subscribers who proposed the idea to Ubai to be realized or negotiated and also the agreement between the two parties. The concept used are the geometric forms, nature, architecture (houses), abstraction, aerospace, and Qur'an Manuscripts; (3) Tools and materials used are pencils, erasers, markers, rulers, scissors, cutter, compass, pens, brushes, buckets, mats, paper, plywood walls, canvas, ink, paint and pigment. The stages in the process of composing calligraphic are the processes of sketching, mal manufacturing, mal application, archetype staining, giving decorative motif, writing verse, and finishing. The types khat used are khat naskhi, tsulutsi, farisi, diwani, diwani jali, riq'ih, and kufi. Meanwhile, the types of illumination used are arabes motifs, florals and twigs, rope and chain motifs and geometric motifs. Thus, Types of calligraphy composed are calligraphy script, ornate Manuscripts, décor, and contemporary.
