Analysis of Locutionary Speech Acts in the Novel 5 CM by Donny Dhirgantoro

This research is motivated by the existence of locutionary speech acts in the novel 5 Cm by Donny Dhirgantoro. The story told in this novel is very inspiring, telling about friendship, love, dreams, and love for the homeland. This study aims to analyze the form of locutionary speech acts in the novel 5 Cm by Donny Dhirgantoro. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. The main data source is the speech in the novel, which is collected through reading and recording techniques. Data analysis is done pragmatically to identify the speaker's intention in each speech. The study results show that locutionary speech acts in this novel convey information directly without hidden intentions or influence on the interlocutor. Analysis based on the theories of Austin (1962) and Searle (1979) shows that locutionary speech in the novel 5 Cm is descriptive and factual, mainly as a conveyor of information. This study concludes that the novel 5 Cm by Donny Dhirgantoro provides an overview of the use of locutionary speech acts in natural conversations between its characters. The implications of this research are in the field of pragmatic linguistics, especially in understanding locutionary speech acts in fictional discourse
