Penerapan Metode Demonstrasi untuk Meningkatkan Perkembangan Kognitif Anak dalam Pengenalan Sains

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peningkatan perkembangan kognitif setelah adanya penerapan metode demonstrasi dalam pengenalan sains pada anak kelompok B2 semester II tahun Pelajaran 2014/2015 di TK Dharma Kumara Patemon. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian tindakan kelas yang dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah 30 anak kelompok B2 semester II di TK Dharma Kumara Patemon tahun pelajaran 2014/2015. Data penelitian tentang perkembangan kognitif dikumpulkan dengan metode observasi dengan instrumen berupa lembar observasi. Data dianalisis dengan menggunakan metode analisis statistik deskriptif dan metode analisis deskriptif kuantitatif. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa ada peningkatan perkembangan kognitif setelah diterapkan metode demonstrasi dalam pengenalan sains. Pada siklus I sebesar 68,00% yang berada pada kriteria sedang ternyata mengalami peningkatan pada siklus II menjadi 89,83% yang berada pada kriteria tinggi. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian tersebut disimpulkan bahwa penerapan metode demonstrasi dapat meningkatkan perkembangan kognitif anak dalam mengenal konsep sains.Kata Kunci : metode demonstrasi, pengenalan sains, perkembangan kognitif
This study was carried out to find out the increase of cognitive development after the implementation of the demonstration method in the introduction of science for children group B2 at second semester in the academic year 2014/2015 at Dharma Kumara kindergarten, Patemon. This study was designed as a classroom action research that was conducted in two cycles. The subjects of this study were 30 children at second semester of B2 class in the academic year 2014/2015 at Dharma Kumara kindergarten, Patemon. The data of this research that were related to the cognitive development was observation with instrument namely observation sheet. The data were analyzed through descriptive statistical analysis and descriptive quantitative analysis method. The result of the analysis showed that there was an increase of cognitive development after implementing a demonstration method in the introduction of science. At the first cycle about 68.00% which were in the average criteria at the first cycle apparently increased in the second cycle into 89.83% which were in high criteria. Based on the result of this study it can be concluded that the implementation of demonstration method can improve cognitive development of children in recognizing the concept of science.
