PENERAPAN KONSELING CLIENT CENTERED DENGAN TEKNIK SELF UNDERSTANDING UNTUK MENINGKATKAN KEMANDIRIAN BELAJAR SISWA KELAS VIII B2 SMP NEGERI 2 SAWAN TAHUN AJARAN 2013/2014

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemandirian belajar siswa setelah diberikan konseling client centered dengan teknik self understanding. Penelitian dilakukan pada siswa kelas VIII B2 SMP Negeri 2 Sawan Tahun Pelajaran 2013/2014 dengan menggunakan rancangan penelitian tindakan konseling pada siswa yang menunjukkan kemandirian belajar rendah. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus, dan setiap siklus terdiri dari tahap identifikasi, diagnosa, prognosa, tindakan konseling, evaluasi dan tahap refleksi. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian tindakan bimbingan konseling. Metode pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah kuesioner, observasi dan wawancara. Data yang terkumpul dianalisis dengan menggunakan analisis deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terjadi peningkatan kemandirian belajar siswa. Peningkatan persentase kemandirian belajar siswa pada pelaksanaan siklus I terjadi peningkatan pada 3 orang siswa yang mencapai kriteria diatas 65% dengan rata-rata persentase peningkatan pada siklus I adalah 21.83%, sedangkan 2 orang siswa masih berada dibawah kriteria 65%. Pada pelaksanaan siklus II, 2 orang siswa yang belum mencapai kriteria 65% pada siklus I mengalami peningkatan diatas 65% dengan rata-rata persentase peningkatan 24.23%. Jadi dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan konseling client centered dengan teknik self understanding dapat meningkatkan kemandirian belajar siswa.Kata Kunci : client centered, self understanding, kemandirian belajar.
This study aimed to improve students' self awareness in learning after they were given client centered counseling by using self understanding technique. This study was done to students class VIII B2 SMP Negeri 2 Sawan in the academic year 2013/2014 by using counseling action research for students who showed low self awareness in learning. This study was done in two cycles and each cycle consist of identification step, diagnose step, prognose, counseling act, evaluation and reflection step. This reasearch was counseling action research. The method of data collection used questionnaire, observation, and interview. Collected data were analyzed by using descriptive analysis. As the result showed that there was an improvement for self awarness in learning. In the cycle I there were improvement in percentage of self awareness towards 3 students who achieved the criteria over than 65%, in which the average of improvement in the cycle I was 21.83%. While 2 another students still lower than 65%. In the cycle II, 2 students who did not achieved the criteria of 65% yet in the cycle I worked out an improvement over than 65% in which the percentage of average improvement was 24.23%. It can be concluded that the application of client centered counseling by using self understanding technique were able to improve students' self awareness in learning.
