This study aims to identify the difference in the significance of speech capability between group of children who were taught by using socio-drama method with folklore as the basis and group of children who were taught by using conventional learning method. This research is a quasi-experiment with the design of non-equivalent post-test only control group. The population of this study were all groups of B1 in kindergarten of cluster II in Buleleng Sub-district. The sample of this study was group B1 of ‘TK KemalaBhayangkari 2 Singaraja’ and Group B of TK Widya Kumarasthana. The sample was determined by using random sampling technique. Speech capability data was collected by using speaking skill instrument. The data obtained were analyzed by using statistical analysis technique and inferential statistical analysis (t-test). The results showed that there were differences in the speech capability between group of children who were taught by using socio-drama method with folklore as the basis and group of children who were taught by using conventional learning method on the children of Group B in kindergarten of cluster II in Buleleng Sub-district. This is shown by tarithmetic (9,413) > ttable (2,000). Furthermore, the mean of experimental group (31.56) is greater than the mean of control group (20). Thus, the socio-drama method with folklore as the basis has a positive effect on the speech capability to the children of Group B in kindergarten of cluster II in Buleleng Sub-district in the academic year of 2016/2017.
