IMPOLITENESS IN THE E-NEWS SOCIAL MEDIA COMMENT SECTION: A DESCRIPTIVE STUDY

Abstrak

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengkaji ketidaksopanan pada kolom komentar media sosial website berita. Pengguna internet seringkali tidak menyadari bahwa mereka menggunakan frasa yang tidak bersahabat. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif untuk mengeksplorasi metode ketidaksopanan berdasarkan teori Culpeper. Artikel ini menyelidiki teknik ketidaksopanan yang ditunjukkan oleh pengguna internet di kolom komentar akun Instagram website berita. Informasi tersebut diperoleh dari kolom komentar berita politik di webesite CNN. Di kolom komentar media sosial website berita, ditemukan lima strategi ketidaksopanan: ketidaksopanan catatan, ketidaksopanan positif, ketidaksopanan negatif, sarkasme atau kesopanan pura-pura, dan menahan kesopanan. Strategi yang paling banyak diterapkan oleh pengguna internet di kolom komentar media sosial website berita adalah ketidaksantunan positif. Sementara itu, alasan ketidaksopanan di bagian kolom komentar media sosial berita antara lain: ketidaksetujuan, kemarahan, frustrasi, kekecewaan dan kurangnya kepercayaan, mencari perubahan/perbaikan, emosi, kelegaan/kebahagiaan, dan ketidakjujuran.
