This research aims to determine the significant differences in the ability of problem solving of mathematics outcomes among groups of students that learned with model of problem based learning (PBL) and group of students that learned with conventional learning models to students third grade in cluster III Sukasada district Buleleng regency in the academic year 2016/2017. This research is a quasi-experimental with non-equivalent post-test only control group design. The population of this study was all students in three grade in cluster III Sukasada district Buleleng regency in the academic year 2016/2017. Samples were taken by random sampling. The sample of this research is the third grade students of SDN 2 Padangbulia and third grade students of SDN 3 Pegadungan. The students' math problem solving data were collected using a description test. The data obtained were analyzed using descriptive statistics and inferential statistics. The result of this research shows that the result of t-test analysis obtained tcount is bigger than ttable (tcount 15,76> ttable 2.021). This means that there are significant difference of problem solving ability of mathematics between group of students who are learning with problem based learning (PBL) model and Groups of students that learned with conventional learning models, So it can be concluded that the problem based learning model (PBL) has a positive effect on the ability of solving the problem of mathematics of third grade in cluster III Sukasada district Buleleng regency in the academic year 2016/2017.
