Kata kunci: Problem-Based Instruction, pemecahan masalah
Abstract
This study aims to determine: 1) description of the problem solving ability of students learning mathematics learned with conventional learning, 2) a description of the problem solving ability of students learning mathematics learning model learned with Problem-Based Instruction, 3) differences in problem solving ability in mathematics learning among groups of students models are learned with Problem-Based learning Instruction and students who learned with conventional learning in class V students in academic year 2012/2013 in primary schools in the cluster IV Buleleng. This research is a quasi-experimental research design using non-equivalent post-test only control group design. The subjects were all fifth grade students in elementary group Buleleng District IV Academic Year 2012/203, amounting to 105 people. Sampling technique is random sampling technique, but is randomized class. Data were collected with instrument-shaped description of the problem-solving test. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and inferential statistics (t-test). Results of this study found that: 1) score learning mathematics problem-solving abilities in students who take conventional learning tend to be low, with a mean of 15.92, 2) while scoring ability in learning mathematics problem solving in students who learned with the cooperative learning Problem-Based Instruction is higher, with a mean of 24.35, 3). So significant differences in problem solving ability among the group of students who learned with the learning model of Problem-Based Instruction with conventional learning, with tarithematic > ttable (tarithematict = 3,35> ttable = 1,671).
Key words: Problem-Based Instruction, solving skills
