The objective of this study is to determine the significant differences of the student’s ability in reading which used Mind Mapping Technique with the students who use the conventional learning of the fifth grade SD Gugus IV Sukawati Gianyar in academic years 2013/2014. This study is a quasy experiment with the design of the study is a non Equivalent control group design. The population of this study is conducted to all of the fifth grade students of SD Gugus IV Sukawati Gianyar in academic years 2013/2014. Samples were taken with a random sampling technique. The data collected is the value of the reading ability studies in the experimental class and the control class collected using a multiple-choice test with one correct answer (post test). Data was analyzed by t-test. The result showed there were the significant differences of the student’s ability in reading which used Mind Mapping Technique with the students who use the conventional learning (tcount 7.867 > ttable = 2.000). Thus, we can conclude that Mind Mapping technique significantly influence the student’s ability in reading of the fifth grade SD Gugus IV Sukawati Gianyar in academic years 2013/2014.
