Abstract

This study aims to determine whether there is a significant difference in learning outcomes between students who take mathematics learning using the Realistic Mathematics Education approach to media-aided concrete with students who take conventional learning in 5th grade of SD Negeri 17 Dauh Puri year 2013/2014. This study was a quasi experimental used non-equivalent control group design. Populations in this study are 107 students, which are divided in 3 different classes. The samples are chosen by random sampling technique, obtainable experimental class is class VB and control class is class VC. Test method were applied as collecting data method. The average scores for the post-test in the experimental class is 75,93 while the control class is 66,48. Based on the result of students post-test data, experimental class and control class had been distributed normally and have a homogeneous variance. Under these conditions, the data were analyzed using the t-test. The criteria of examination was "if thitung > ttabel so that H0 is rejected and Ha is received by degrees of freedom df = n1 + n2 – 2 and α = 0,05. The results of t-test analysis showed equal to 3,16 and the t-table is equal to 2,00 for dk = 69 with a significance level of 5%. Based on the criteria of examination, thitung > ttabel (3,16 > 2,00) so that H0 was rejected and Ha was received. Based on these results it can be concluded that there is significant Realistic Mathematics Education approach to media-aided concrete to the mathematics learning outcomes students in 5th grade of SD Negeri 17 Dauh Puri year 2013/2014.
