The purpose of this research was to recognize the differences between the students that taught with role playing learning model and those that taught with conventional learning model. This research was a quasi experimental research using post test design only with non equivalent control group design. The research population was all students in grade V which belong to Elementary School Gugus VI Kecamatan Buleleng, with the total 184 students. The samples were determined by using random sampling technique. In collecting the data, the writter uses observation sheet, which had some indicators on it. The data were analysed using a descriptive statistic and inferencial statistic. The result of this research showed that there were the differences between the students taught with role playing learning model and taught with conventional model learning (tarithmetic = 8.19 ; ttable = 2). The average score of the students taught with role playing model learning is 83.80 it is considered to be excellent. Whereas those taught with conventional learning model is 60.08 it is considered to be enough category. In this research role playing model learning can be considered to be significant in developing student speak skills.
