PENGARUH METODE TALKING STICK BERBANTUAN PETA KONSEP TERHADAP PEMAHAMAN KONSEP IPA SISWA KELAS V SD

Penelitian ini dilatar belakangi oleh rendahnya pemahaman konsep IPA siswa kelas V SD, oleh karena itu penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan pemahaman konsep IPA antara kelompok siswa yang mengikuti pembelajaran dengan metode talking stick berbantuan peta konsep dengan kelompok siswa yang mengikuti pembelajaran dengan metode pembelajaran konvensional pada siswa kelas V SD di Gugus Ubud Kabupaten Gianyar. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian eksperimen semu. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh kelas V SD di Gugus Ubud Kabupaten Gianyar tahun pelajaran 2013/2014 yang berjumlah 183 orang. Sampel penelitian ini yaitu kelas VA SD Negeri 3 Ubud yang berjumlah 25 orang dan kelas V SD Negeri 5 Ubud yang berjumlah 24 orang. Data pemahaman konsep IPA siswa dikumpulkan dengan instrumen tes berbentuk uraian. Data yang dikumpulkan dianalisis menggunakan analisis statistik deskriptif dan statistik inferensial (uji-t). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan pemahaman konsep IPA yang signifikan antara kelompok siswa yang mengikuti pembelajaran dengan metode talking stick berbantuan peta konsep dan kelompok siswa yang mengikuti pembelajaran dengan metode pembelajaran konvensional. Besarnya thitung adalah 5,94, sedangkan ttabel (pada taraf signifikansi 5% dan dk=47) = 2,000. Hal ini menunjukkan thitung lebih besar dari ttabel. Selanjutnya, rata-rata skor pemahaman konsep IPA kelompok siswa yang mengikuti pembelajaran dengan metode talking stick berbantuan peta (30,08) lebih tinggi dari pada kelompok siswa yang mengikuti pembelajaran dengan metode pembelajaran konvensional (21,83). Dengan demikian, metode talking stick berbantuan peta konsep berpengaruh terhadap pemahaman konsep IPA siswa kelas V SD Tahun Pelajaran 2013/2014 di Gugus Ubud Kabupaten Gianyar.Kata Kunci : pemahaman konsep, peta konsep, talking stick
The background of this research is the students lack of understanding of science concepts in fifth grade elementary school, therefore this research was conducted with the aim of determine the differences between students understanding of science concepts that follow the learning with talking stick method aided concept mapping with students who follow learning with conventional learning method in fifth grade at elementary school Gugus Ubud Gianyar regency. This research is a quasi experimental research. The populations in this research are all of fifth grade at elementary school Gugus Ubud Gianyar Regency academic year 2013/2014, which students amount 183 peoples. The sample of this research was SD Negeri 3 Ubud (VA) that consisted of 25 students and SD Negeri 5 Ubud (V) that consisted of 24 students. Students understanding of science concepts data collected by the essay test instrument. The data were analyses by using descriptive statistical analysis and inferential statistics (t-test). The results showed that there are differences in understanding science concepts significantly between students who follow the learning with talking stick method aided concept mapping with students who follow learning with conventional learning method. The tvalue = 5,94 and ttable (at significance level of 5% and dk=47) = 2,000. This means that tvalue it’s bigger then ttable. The average score of students understanding of science concepts that follow the learning with talking stick method aided concept mapping (30,08) higher then the students who follow learning with conventional learning method (21,83). So, it can be concluded that talking stick method aided concept mapping affected students understanding of science concepts in fifth grade students at elementary school Gugus Ubud Gianyar regency.
