AN ANALYSIS OF STUDENTS' GRAMMATICAL ERRORS IN WRITING RECOUNT TEXT OF EIGHTH GRADE STUDENTS AT SMPN 2 SERIRIT IN ACADEMIC YEAR 2016/2017

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk (1) menemukan kesalahan yang sering dilakukan dalam menulis teks recount oleh siswa kelas delapan di SMPN 2 Seririt; dan (2) menemukan sumber kesalahan yang dilakukan dalam menulis teks recount oleh siswa kelas delapan di SMPN 2 Seririt. Penelitian ini dirancang sebagai penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Metode yang digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data adalah analisis dokumen. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah peneliti dan sampel tulisan siswa. Data dalam penelitian ini dianalisis secara deskriptif. Terdapat 30 tulisan siswa yang dianalisis berdasarkan taksonomi strategi permukaan (surface strategy taxonomy) yang diajukan oleh Dulay et al. (1981). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat 170 kesalahan yang dilakukan oleh subjek yakni kesalahan pengurangan (omission) 131 (77,01%), kesalahan penempatan (misordering) 14 (8,23%), kesalahan bentuk (misformation) 13 (7.64%), dan kesalahan penambahan (addition) 12 (7,12%). Kelalaian pengurangan (omission) menjadi kesalahan yang paling sering dilakukan oleh siswa. Namun, ada tiga jenis sumber kesalahan yang ditemukan dalam penelitian ini, yaitu transfer intralingual (90,96%), transfer interlingual (7,22%), dan konteks pembelajaran (1,8%).Kata Kunci : analisis kesalahan, kesalahan tata bahasa, teks recount
The study aimed at (1) finding the errors commonly made in writing recount text by eighth grades students at SMPN 2 Seririt; and (2) finding the sources of the errors committed in writing recount text by eighth grades students at SMPN 2 Seririt. This study was designed as descriptive qualitative study. The methods used to collect data was document analysis. The instruments used were the researcher and the sample of writing. The data in this study were analyzed descriptively. There were 30 students’ writing which analyzed based on surface strategy taxonomy proposed by Dulay et al. (1981). The result of this study shows that, there are 170 errors committed by the subject including 131 (77.01%) omission errors, 14 (8.23%) misordering errors, 13 (7.64%) misformation errors, and 12 (7.12%) addition errors. Omission error becomes the most frequent errors committed by the students. However, there were three types of errors sources found in this study, those are intralingual transfer (90.96%), interlingual transfer (7.22%), and context of learning (1.8%).
