AN ANALYSIS OF THE TYPES OF READING COMPREHENSION QUESTIONS USED BY TEACHERS IN SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL A IN SINGARAJA BASED ON COGNITIVE DOMAIN OF REVISED BLOOM’S TAXONOMY

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis jenis pertanyaan pemahaman bacaan yang digunakan oleh guru bahasa Inggris di SMA A di Singaraja. Analisis didasarkan pada domain kognitif dari Taksonomi Bloom Revisi. Desain yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah desain penelitian kualitatif. Sumber data pada penelitian ini adalah buku teks siswa, lembar kerja siswa, dan pertanyaan yang diajukan oleh dua guru secara lisan di kelas selama 4 pertemuan. Setelah menganalisis semua pertanyaan yang digunakan oleh guru, wawancara dilakukan untuk mendapatkan alasan guru dalam menggunakan pertanyaan-pertanyaan tersebut. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa pertanyaan lisan dan tulis yang digunakan oleh guru sebagian besar mengacu pada remembering factual knowledge dengan persentase 35,21% pada buku teks siswa, 57,95% pada lembar kerja siswa dan 45,61% pada pertanyaan lisan yang digunakan oleh guru selama kegiatan mengajar. Level pertanyaan kedua yang paling dominan digunakan dalam pertanyaan lisan dan tulis adalah understanding factual knowledge dengan persentase 35,21% pada buku teks siswa, 23,67% pada lembar kerja siswa dan 36,84% pada pertanyaan lisan yang digunakan oleh para guru di kelas. Dengan demikian, pertanyaan yang digunakan oleh guru lebih menekankan pada pertanyaan Lower Order Thinking (LOT).Kata Kunci : pemahaman membaca, pertanyaan, higher order thinking, lower order thinking
This study was aimed at analyzing the types of reading comprehension questions used by English teachers in Senior High School A in Singaraja. The analysis was based on the cognitive domains of revised Bloom’s Taxonomy. The design used in this study was qualitative research design. The sources of this data were the students’ textbook, students’ worksheet, and the questions that were asked by the teachers orally in the class during 4 meetings. After analyzing all of the questions that were used by the teachers, interview was conducted in order to gain the teacher’s reasons of using those questions. The result of the analysis showed that the oral and written questions used by the teachers mostly refers to remembering factual knowledge with percentage 35.21% in the students textbook, 57.95% in the students’ worksheet and 45.61% in the oral questions that were used by teacher during the teaching activity. The second most dominantly used in the oral and written question was understanding factual knowledge level with percentage 35.21% in the students’ textbook, 23.67% in the students’ worksheet and 36.84% in the oral questions that were used by the teacher in the class. Thus, the questions that were used by teachers are more emphasized on Lower Order Thinking question (LOT)
