An Analysis of Jargon Used By Receptionist in Front Office at Grand Istana Rama Hotel

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk 1) Mengidentifikasi dan menganalisis bentuk bahasa jargon yang digunakan di kantor depan di Hotel Grand Istana Rama. 2) Mengidentifikasi dan menganalisis makna setiap jargon di kantor bagian depan di Grand Istana Rama Hotel. 3) Mengidentifikasi dan menggambarkan fungsi setiap jargon yang digunakan di kantor bagian depan di Grand Istana Rama Hotel. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif yang terutama difokuskan pada penemuan daripada menggunakan analisis statistik. Studi ini berlangsung di Hotel Grand Istana Rama yang merupakan hotel bintang 4 dan dapat dianggap sebagai hotel elite. Penelitian ini menggunakan peneliti sebagai instrumen utama dan 2 instrumen tambahan yaitu pedoman wawancara dan observasi. Penelitian ini menggunakan 4 informan yang dipilih berdasarkan kriteria tertentu. Studi ini menunjukkan bahwa 1) bentuk bahasa jargon yang digunakan di kantor bagian depan di Hotel Grand Istana Rama adalah singkatan, akronim, afiksasi, pinjaman leksikal, penciptaan, kata dan formasi frase. 2) arti setiap bentuk linguistik didasarkan pada penggunaannya. 3) fungsi setiap jargon adalah: memberikan bahasa teknis dan mendorong solidaritas dalam kelompok.Kata Kunci : jargon, bentuk linguistik, makna, fungsi
This study aimed to 1) Identify and analyze the linguistic forms of jargon used in front office department at Grand Istana Rama Hotel. 2) Identify and analyze the meaning of each jargon in front office department at Grand Istana Rama Hotel. 3) Identify and describe the function of each jargon used in front office department at Grand Istana Rama Hotel. This study was descriptive qualitative research which mainly focused on discovery rather than using statistical analysis. This study took place at Grand Istana Rama Hotel which belonged to 4 star hotels and can be considered as elite hotel. This study used researcher as main instrument and 2 additional instruments namely interview guide and observation. This study used 4 informants which were selected based on certain criteria. This study showed that 1) the linguistic forms of jargon used in front office department at Grand Istana Rama Hotel are abbreviation, acronym, affixation, lexical borrowing, coinage, word and phrase formation. 2) the meaning of each linguistic form is based on its use. 3) the function of each jargon were: providing technical language and encouraging in-group solidarity. keywords: jargon, linguistic form, meaning, function
