THE DEVELOPMENT OF LINEAR INSTRUCTIONAL MULTIMEDIA IN QUESTIONING SKILL AND EXPLAINING SKILL FOR MICROTEACHING CLASS IN ENGLISH EDUCATION DEPARTMENT UNDIKSHA

Kajian penelitian dan pengembangan ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan sebuah multimedia pembelajaran linear yang membahas tentang keterampilan bertanya dan menjelaskan untuk kelas pengajaran mikro di Jurusan Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris UNDIKSHA dan menganalisis kualitas prototype yang dikembangkan. Penelitian ini menerapkan 5 langkah dalam penelitian dan pengembangan yang diadaptasi dari Gall, Gall dan Borg (2003) oleh Sutopo (2009), antara lain: 1) penelitian dan pengumpulan data, 2) perencanaan, 3) pembuatan prototype, 4) uji prototype pertama, dan 5) perbaikan prototype. Instrumen yang digunakan untuk menggali data adalah Rencana Pelaksanaan Pembelajaran (RPP), naskah pengajaran, dan kuisioner untuk ahli dan pengguna produk yang telah divalidasi. Data dianalisis secara kuantitatif dan kualitatif. Berdasarkan hasil analisis kebutuhan, ditemukan bahwa multimedia pembelajaran yang dikembangkan berupa multimedia linear dalam bentuk video presentasi. Hasil kuantitatif analisis menyatakan kualitas video untuk keterampilan bertanya sebesar 82% sementara hasil untuk video keterampilan menjelaskan sebesar 88%. Angka-angka tersebut dikategorikan sebagai hasil yang sangat baik yang mana tidak diperlukannya revisi. Namun terdapat banyak komentar dan saran dalam analisis kualitatif dimana banyak kekurangan dalam bagian isi dan media. Maka dari itu, proses perbaikan dilakukan berdasarkan komentar dan saran yang diberikan oleh ahli dan pengguna. Walaupun terdapat beberapa revisi untuk prototype tersebut, multimedia pembelajaran ini dianggap sebagai video yang baik untuk digunakan daam kelas pengajaran mikro.Kata Kunci : multimedia pembelajaran, multimedia linear, keterampilan bertanya, keterampilan menjelaskan, video pembelajaran mikro.
This research and development study was aimed at developing a linear instructional multimedia of questioning skill and explaining skill for microteaching class in English Education Department UNDIKSHA and analyze the quality of prototype have been developed. This study employed 5 steps in multimedia development which was adapted from Gall, Gall and Borg (2003) by Sutopo (2009), namely: 1) research and data collection, 2) planning, 3) creating prototype, 4) preliminary prototype testing and 5) upgrading prototype. The instrument used was lesson plan, validated teaching scenario and validated questionnaire for expert judges and users of the product. The data was analyzed through quantitative and qualitative analysis. In accordance to the need analysis, this study resulted in type of instructional multimedia to be developed which is linear multimedia in form of video presentation. Based on the quantitative analysis, the quality of microteaching video is 82% for questioning skill video and 88% for explaining skill. Those numbers are categorized as very good product where it does not need any revision. Indeed, qualitative analysis gained some suggestions and comments from the experts where there are some weaknesses in the area of content and media. Therefore, the upgrading process was decided to be done as the experts and users commented and suggested. Though there were some revisions for the prototype, the instructional multimedia was considered as a good video to be used in microteaching class.
