Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kompetensi menulis recount siswa di SMP Negeri 1 Banjar melalui kombinasi TAD dan HARAP Strategi. Subyek penelitian adalah kelas 8F siswa SMP Negeri 1 Banjar, yang terdiri dari 14 laki-laki dan 18 perempuan. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian tindakan berbasis kelas yang dilakukan dalam dua siklus. Setiap siklus melibatkan empat langkah, seperti: perencanaan, tindakan, observasi dan refleksi. Data diperoleh melalui empat jenis instrumen, yaitu: wawancara, peneliti buku harian, angket dan tes. Sebuah pre-test diberikan sebelum melakukan tindakan untuk mendapatkan data awal dari para siswa. Post-tes diberikan setelah melakukan tindakan. Kemudian, data yang diperoleh secara deskriptif dianalisis. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kompetensi menulis siswa meningkat. Hal ini ditunjukkan oleh peningkatan nilai rata-rata siswa. Rata-rata siswa adalah 42,53 di pre-test. Setelah pengobatan dilakukan, meningkat menjadi 70,06. Akhirnya, skor rata-rata siswa bisa mencapai 76,28 setelah melakukan siklus 2 Selain itu, lebih dari 90,63% dari semua siswa bisa lulus tingkat yang baik dari penguasaan belajar. Selain itu, kombinasi ini juga membawa efek positif dalam mendorong motivasi dan minat belajar bahasa Inggris siswa.

The study was aimed to improve the students’ recount writing competency at SMP Negeri 1 Banjar through the combination of T.A.D and P.L.E.A.S.E. Strategy. The subjects of the study were class 8F students of SMP Negeri 1 Banjar, which consisted of 14 males and 18 females. This study was classroom based action research that was conducted in two cycles. Each cycle involved four steps, such as: planning, action, observation and reflection. The data were obtained through four kinds of instruments, namely: interview, researcher’s diary, questionnaire and test. A pre-test was given before conducting the action to obtain preliminary data of the students. Post-tests were given after doing action. Then, the data obtained was descriptively analyzed. The findings of the study showed that the students’ writing competency improved. It was shown by the improvement of students’ mean score. Students’ mean score was 42.53 in pre-test. After the treatment was conducted, it increased into 70.06. Finally, the students’ mean score could reach 76.28 after conducting cycle 2. Besides, more than 90.63% from all of the students could pass the good level of learning mastery. In addition, this combination also brought positive effect in fostering students’ motivation and interest in learning English.
