A Survey on the Tenth Grade EFL Students' Learning Style and Reason of Selection at SMA Negeri 2 Semarapura in Academic Year 2015/2016

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisa gaya belajar pada siswa kelas 10 yang belajar berbahasa inggris sebagai bahasa asing dan alasan pemilihan gaya belajar tersebut di SMA Negeri 2 Semarapura. Metode yang telaah digunakan untuk memperoleh data adalah keusioner yang bernama Perceptual Learning Style Preference Questionnaire (PLSPQ) dan wawancara. Data – data tersebut dianalisa dengan mengunakan metode campuran. Hasil dari penelitian ini menempilkan bahwa sebagian besar siswa lebih menyukai gaya belajar berkelompok diikuti dengan kinesthetik, pendengaran, taktikal, melihat, dan gaya belajar individu. Itu juga didukung dengan hasil wawancara dimana siswa lebih banyak menyukai gaya belajar kelompok karena mereka dapat membagi materi pembelajaran atau ilu pengetahuan untuk mempersiapkan ujian. It dapat disimpulkan bahwa persentase siswa di sma Negeri 2 Semarapura terbesar lebih menyukai gaya belajar kelompok dengan persentase 79.5%.Kata Kunci : Siswa belajar bahasa Inggris sebagai bahasa asing, Gaya belajar, Alasan pemilihan, Perceptual learning style preference questionnaire (PLSPQ)
This research aimed at analyzing learning style and reason of selection of the tenth grade EFL students at SMA Negeri 2 Semarapura. The method used to obtain the data were questionnaire named Perceptual Learning Style Preference Questionnaire (PLSPQ) and interview. The data were analyzed by using mixed method approach. The result of the study showed that most of the students preferred group learning style followed by kinesthetic, auditory, tactile, visual, and individual learning style. It also was supported by the result of interview in which most students preferred group learning style by their responses on interview. The students preferred group learning style because they are able to share learning material or knowledge to prepare examination. It could be concluded that the most percentage of students at SMA Negeri 2 Semarapura preferred group learning style with the percentage 79.5%.
