AN ANALYSIS OF GRAMMATICAL ERRORS COMMITTED BY THE TENTH GRADE STUDENTS OF SMA NEGERI 2 BANJAR IN WRITING RECOUNT TEXTS, IN ACADEMIC YEAR 2015/2016

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis dan mendeskripsikan jenis-jenis dan penyebab dari kesalahan-kesalahan tata bahasa yang dibuat oleh siswa kelas X di SMA Negeri 2 Banjar dalam menulis recount teks, tahun ajaran 2015/2016. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif. Subjek dari penelitian ini adalah 31 siswa kelas X di SMA Negeri 2 Banjar. Objek dari penelitian ini adalah kesalahan-kesalahan yang dibuat oleh siswa kelas X di SMA Negeri 2 Banjar serta penyebab dari kesalahan-kesalahan tersebut. Berdasarkan temuan, terdapat 327 kesalahan yang ditemukan pada recount teks siswa. Dari 327 kesalahan yang dibuat oleh siswa, terdapat 129 or 39.45% kesalahan dalam bentuk omission, 32 atau 9.78% dalam bentuk addition, 147 atau 44.96% dalam bentuk misformation, dan 19 atau 5.81% dalam bentuk misordering. Disamping itu, kesalahan-kesalahan siswa tersebut disebabkan oleh carelessness, first language interference, dan translation. Dari 327 kesalahan tersebut, 171 atau 52.29%kesalahan disebabkan oleh carelessness, 62 atau 18.96% kesalahan disebabkan oleh first language interference, dan 94 atau 28.75% kesalahan disebabkan oleh translation.

The purpose of this research was to analyze and describe the types and causes of the grammatical errors committed by the tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 2 Banjar in writing recount texts, in academic year 2015/2016. This research was a qualitative study. The subjects of this research were 31 tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 2 Banjar, in academic year 2015/2016. The objects of this research were the errors and causes of the errors made by the students. Based on the findings, there were 327 errors found in the students’ recount texts. Out of 327 errors committed by the students, there were 129 or 39.45% errors in the form of omission, 32 or 9.78% errors in the form of addition, 147 or 44.96% in the form of misformation, and 19 or 5.81% errors in the form of misordering. Besides, it was also found that the errors committed by the students were caused by carelessness, first language interference, and translation. Out of 327 errors committed by the students, there were 171 or 52.29% errors caused by carelessness, 62 or 18.96% errors caused by first language interference, and 94 or 28.75% errors caused by translation.
