Developing a Textbook of Listening Skill for English for Food and Beverage Service Subject Used for Tenth Grade Student at SMK Nusa Dua Sawan

Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengembangkan buku pelajaran tentang kemampuan listening untuk pelajaran layanan makanan dan minuman, terutama untuk siswa kelas X sekolah menengah kejuruan (SMK). Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk melengkapi bahan materi mendengarkan untuk pelajaran layanan makanan dan minuman untuk kelas X di SMK Nusa Dua Sawan. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah penelitian dan pengambangan dari Gall and Borg (2003) dan Masuhara (di Tomlinson 1998) sebagai model. Ada lima prosedur dalam pengembangan produk dari Gall and Borg yaitu: 1) analisa kebutuhan, 2) merancang produk, 3) mengambangkan produk, 4) penilaian produk, 5) memperbaiki dan menulis produk akhir. Kemudian, penelitian ini menggunakan instrument untuk mengumpulkan data dengan wawancara, kuesioner, dan analisa silabus. Hasil dari penelitian menunjukkan buku pelajaran mendengarkan untuk pelajaran pelayanan makanan dan minuman diperlukan dan baik untuk siswa sekolah menengah kejuruan terutama kelas X. Kualitas buku ini dinilai oleh ahli dan buku ini sesuai untuk pelajaran pelayanan makanan dan minuman dan sesuai dengan silabus yang digunakan di sekolah.Kata Kunci : Buku Pelajaran, kemampuan mendengarkan, Layanan Makanan dan Minuman, Pengembangan Materi
This research was conducted to develop a textbook of listening skill for food and beverage service subject, especially tenth grade students of vocational high school. The purposes of this research were to compile the items of listening material for the food and beverage service department and to provide a textbook for listening of the food and beverage service department at tenth grade students at SMK Nusa Dua Sawan. The method in this research is Research and Development modified by Gall and Borg (2003) and Masuhara (in Tomlinson, 1998) as model. There are five procedures in developing product by Masuhara, those were: 1) conducting need analysis, 2) designing the product, 3) developing product, 4) evaluating product, 5) revising and writing final product. Then, this research used some instruments to collect the data such as interview, questionnaire and syllabus analysis. The result of this research showed that listening textbook for food and beverage service was needed and good for student in vocational high school, especially tenth grade students. The quality of this textbook was judged by the expert and the textbook were appropriate textbook for food and beverage service students and it was appropriate with the syllabus used in the school.
