DEVELOPING A LOCAL CULTURE-BASED PICTURE STORYBOOK IN THE FORM OF MYTH FOR YOUNG LEARNERS

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan buku cerita bergambar berbasis budaya lokal dalam bentuk mitos untuk peserta didik muda. Budaya lokal yang dirujuk adalah kesusastraan Bali dalam bentuk mitos. Penelitian ini menggunakan kerangka penelitian dan pengembangan yang diusulkan oleh Sugiyono (2014). Produk dikembangkan dengan menggabungkan karakteristik peserta didik muda dan kriteria buku cerita bergambar yang baik. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah sebuah buku cerita bergambar berjudul “Kala Rau dan Asal-Mula Gerhana”. Isi buku cerita bergambar tersebut divalidasi oleh dua ahli dengan hasil adalah 1.00 yang menunjukkan validitas sangat tinggi dan telah memenuhi seluruh kriteria buku cerita bergambar yang baik. Selain itu, dari segi kualitas, hasil yang diperoleh adalah 4.75 yang menandakan bahwa buku cerita bergambar tersebut dapat dikategorikan sangat baik. Dengan demikian, produk ini dapat digunakan sebagai bahan bacaan tambahan untuk kesenangan bagi peserta didik muda.

This study aimed at developing a local culture-based picture storybook in the form of myth for elementary school students. The local culture referred to is Balinese literature in the form of myth. It used research and development framework proposed by Sugiyono (2014). The product was developed by combining characteristics of young learners and the criteria of good picture storybook. The result of this research is the picture storybook entitled “Kala Rau and the Origin of Eclipses”. The picture storybook was validated its content validity by two experts and the result of validation was 1.00 which means very high validity and had met all of the criteria of good picture storybook. Moreover, in terms of quality, the result was 4.75 which signified that the picture storybook was categorized as excellent. Thus, this product can be used as a supplementary reading for pleasure material for young learners.
