DEVELOPING A LOCAL CULTURE-BASED PICTURE STORYBOOK IN THE FORM OF LEGEND FOR YOUNG LEARNERS

Abstract

Penelitian ini dirancang untuk mengembangkan sebuah buku cerita bergambar berbasis budaya lokal untuk pelajar anak-anak. Budaya lokal yang dimaksudkan mengacu pada kesusastraan Bali dalam bentuk legenda yang berjudul “Asal Mula Selat Bali” Penelitian ini menggunakan model penelitian dan pengembangan yang diusulkan oleh Sugiyono (2014). Data dalam penelitian ini diperoleh dari (1) wawancara, (2) pengamatan, dan (3) kajian pustaka. Kemudian, data tersebut dianalisa secara descriptif dalam bentuk narasi untuk produk yang dikembangkan dan validasi isi menggunakan rumus Gregory. Berdasarkan analisa yang dilakukan oleh peneliti, produk ini sesuai untuk siswa sekolah dasar karena produk dikembangkan dengan mempertimbangkan kriteria dari buku cerita bergambar yang baik dan karakteristik dari pelajar anak-anak. Hasil validasi isi dari produk yang dikembangkan adalah 1.00 dengan kriteria sangat tinggi. Kemudian, kualitas dari produk diukur menggunakan skala Likert dengan hasil 4.75 yang dikatagorikan sangat baik. Validasi isi dan qualitas produk dinilai oleh ahli uji. Maka, produk dari penelitian ini direkomendasikan untuk pelajar anak-anak sebagai materi bacaan untuk kesenangan.

This study focused on developing a local culture-based picture storybook for young learners. The local culture referred is Balinese literature in the form of legend entitled “The Legend of Bali Strait”. This study was conducted by using a Research and Development (R&D) model proposed by Sugiyono (2014). The data were obtained by (1) interview, (2) observation, and (3) literature review and were analyzed descriptively for the product developed and content validity using Gregory formula. Based on the analysis done by the researcher, the product is suitable for young learners since it is developed by considering the criteria of good picture storybook and the characteristics of young learners. The result of content validity of the product is 1.00 with very high criteria. Then, the quality of the product is measured by using Likert Scale with the result is 4.75 and categorized as excellent. Both content validity and quality of the product were judged by expert judges. Therefore, the product of this study is recommended for young learners as reading for pleasure material.
