Songs for Teaching English Vocabularies in the Fourth Grade Students of SD N 1 Kalibukbuk

Abstract


This research was aimed at exploring the activities of teaching English vocabulary in fourth grade students and clarifying the use of songs in teaching vocabulary in the fourth grade students of SD N 1 Kalibukbuk. This research used a descriptive qualitative method. The subjects of this study are the teacher and 29 students in fourth grade. Observation sheets was used to collect the data about the potential and the problems faced by the teacher in teaching English vocabularies in the fourth grade of  SD N 1 Kalibukbuk,  meanwhile interview guide was used to gather the information about the reason of using the songs, the advantages, and difficulties faces when using songs for teaching English vocabularies.  The result of this research showed that songs used by teacher in teaching English vocabularies for young learners were varies. Those songs that used by the teacher were good songs to train students in learning English vocabularies.
